A step toward ending the war: After Washington summit Histadrut Calls for international effort to press Hamas to end the war

Date:

The Histadrut welcomes the proposal announced in Washington by President Trump as a possible step to end the tragic ongoing war that began with the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023.

If carried out, these proposals will secure the release of the 48 hostages who have been held for far too long, deliver urgently needed humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and ensure that Hamas is disarmed so it can no longer threaten the security of Israelis or the stability of our region.

The plan also open a pathway for the reconstruction of Gaza, the reform of the Palestinian Authority, and ultimately, the realization of the Two State Solution, A Palestinian state alongside Israel.

For working families on both sides, these proposals represent something even greater: hope. Hope for a future where peace, tolerance, and coexistence are not slogans but lived realities. A place where parents can raise their children without fear, and workers can rebuild their lives and communities.

Israel has accepted this plan of action. The international community and the international trade union movement must now act with urgency to press Hamas to do the same, so that together we can lay the foundations of peace, security, and dignity for all.
