Histadrut secures 2026 budget: A strong step toward stability and growth
The Histadrut marked a major milestone as its House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the organization’s 2026 budget, cementing financial stability and paving the way for expanded services and stronger advocacy for Israel’s workers.
This vote follows the leadership’s approval two weeks ago, completing the formal process that guarantees operational continuity for the coming year. The approved budget stands at ₪1.088 billion, reflecting a 4% increase compared to last year’s revised figures. The rise is driven by intensified organizational activity, growing membership, and wage adjustments aligned with nationwide collective agreements.
“Today we took another important step in safeguarding the Histadrut’s stability and resilience,” said Acting Histadrut Chair Roi Yaakov during the session. “There is broad consensus that this budget reflects public responsibility and provides the certainty we need to lead struggles and achieve new accomplishments for Israel’s workers, retirees, and all Histadrut members.”
The 2026 budget prioritizes:
- Strengthening the core activities of the Histadrut
- Expanding member services
- Investing in infrastructure to support professional struggles and organized labor
The approval session was chaired by House of Representatives Chairman Shlomo Avitan, alongside House of Representatives Secretary Nahum Asad. Key figures in shaping the budget included CFO Gil Elmelech, Finance Division Director Meir Alfarai, with strategic guidance from Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David and General Manager Dudu Batzalel.
With this decisive step, the Histadrut is set to continue its mission to champion workers’ rights and address the economic and social needs of Israel’s workforce in 2026.
