Freddy Cohen Re-elected Chairman of Hotel, Chemistry and Agriculture Union
Freddy Cohen was re-elected for another term as chairman of the Hotel, Chemistry and Agriculture Union on Tuesday. Cohen, who has been chairman of the union since 2017, was elected to a new term in the elections held at the fourth union conference.
Shlomo Flor was also elected as the acting chairman of the union. Flor has been a member of the union’s executive committee since 2017 and has served as the union’s secretary-general since 2020.
In his speech to the conference, Cohen reviewed the union’s activities over the past four years. He highlighted the union’s success in negotiating new collective bargaining agreements with employers in the hotel, chemistry and agriculture industries. He also spoke about the union’s work to improve working conditions and benefits for its members.
“I would like to thank the chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar David, for his trust and support,” Cohen said. “A big thank you to all the delegates of the conference for the trust they placed in me and thanks to all the guests.”
The Hotel, Chemistry and Agriculture Union represents salaried workers in the hotel, youth hostels and guest houses, venues, chemical workers, and agriculture industries. The union is concerned with maintaining working conditions, pensions and workers’ rights, and provides a broad economic basket for the welfare of the workers. The union is an affiliate of the IUF (The global union of food, farm, hotels and more).
Cohen’s re-election is a sign of the union’s confidence in his leadership. He is a strong advocate for workers’ rights and has a proven track record of success in negotiating new collective bargaining agreements.
