A groundbreaking wage agreement was signed on Monday (8 April) between the Histadrut, the Ministry of Finance, Clalit Health Services, and the Ministry of Health, marking a major victory for public sector health professionals across Israel.

The new deal significantly improves the employment conditions for physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, offering a comprehensive package of financial incentives and structural reforms aimed at strengthening the healthcare workforce.

Minister of Health Uriel Busso hailed the agreement as a “historic milestone,” emphasizing the central role of health professionals in Israel’s rehabilitation and treatment systems. “Their commitment keeps our healthcare system resilient, even in times of crisis,” he said.

Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David called the deal a “significant achievement” for thousands of workers long overdue for recognition. “These professionals are essential to our society and now they’ll receive the compensation they deserve,” he stated.

From the Ministry of Finance, Inbal Roi praised the agreement’s focus on workforce sustainability. “It includes strategic incentives to both recruit and retain professionals in areas experiencing staff shortages,” she noted.

Health Ministry Director General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov linked the deal to broader national health reforms. “This agreement supports continuous care and the expansion of vital services, particularly in Israel’s peripheral regions,” he explained.

Eli Cohen, CEO of Clalit Health Services, also welcomed the move, stressing its importance for staff retention. “This deal is a step forward in ensuring quality care through better wages and stable employment for our healthcare providers,” he said.

This landmark agreement represents a major advancement for Israel’s public health sector, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the professionals who form the backbone of the nation’s care infrastructure.
