Labor dispute at Osem sites throughout Israel
For the past six months, negotiations have been taking place for a general collective agreement at Osem to regulate the terms of employment and workers’ wages. However, Osem management is making progress extremely difficult and withdrawing from agreements on significant issues.
The Food and Pharmaceutical Workers’ Union and the Histadrut’s Workers’ Unions Division conducted informational assemblies this morning (Monday) at all Osem company sites across Israel. This follows the labor dispute in the company that was confirmed on 10.8. The labor dispute, which applies to approximately 3,500 workers, was announced after negotiations for a general collective agreement have been underway for the past six months in Osem to regulate the terms of employment and wages of the workers. Unfortunately, Osem management is making progress extremely difficult, showing a lack of good faith and retracting agreements on significant issues such as raising the factory minimum wage, retirement, and welfare conditions.
Chairman of the Food and Pharmaceutical Workers’ Union Eliezer Belo: “I call on the management of Osem to come to their senses and stand behind the agreements we reached as part of the intensive negotiations.”
