The workers of the Bereshit packing house joined the Histadrut
About a hundred workers from the Bereshit packing house joined the Histadrut to improve their employment conditions and ensure job security. Workers Action Committee: “We call on the management to sit down with us to negotiate a collective agreement, which will benefit both the workers and the packing house.”
About 100 employees of the Bereshit packing house from Kibbutz Merom Golan joined the Histadrut. The workers organized following their desire to improve their employment conditions and job security. The move was led by the secretaries of the trade union in the Upper Galilee region of the Histadrut, Fadi Abu Rafa, and Moshe Avraham. Bereshit workers join about 800,000 workers in the economy represented by the Histadrut. Bereishit is an Israeli corporation engaged in the packaging and marketing of fruit and was established in 2005 following the merging of the Golan Fruit and Psagot fruit packing houses.
The action committee said: Bereishit packing workers and employees who give everything every day for the success of the workplace decided to organize in the Histadrut, to take care of their well-being and employment conditions”.
The secretary of the Upper Galilee Trade Union of the Histadrut, Fadi Abu Rafa, met with the packing house workers and heard from them about their desire to join the Histadrut, said: “I am glad that the workers have decided to take responsibility for their employment future. I sincerely hope that the workers, the management of the packing house, and the Histadrut will establish a fruitful relationship for the benefit of the workers and the packing house. “
