Solidarity with German workers

A delegation of the Histadrut’s youth is visiting the city of Mannheim in Germany as part of the Histadrut’s international cooperation with the DGB, the Germany Trade Union Confederation. The delegation, which consists of members of Histadrut districts, affiliated unions, the youth trade union, and students, is led by Gary Kaplan from the International Relations Division of the Histadrut. The division is responsible for representing the Histadrut in international forums and coordinating solidarity with unions worldwide. As part of the mission, the delegation supported workers of the industrial company SüdKabel, who are on strike this week because of the management’s decision not to renew the workers’ collective agreement. The workers thanked the Histadrut for the support and reinforcement they received from the Israeli guests and expressed hope that the joint action would bear fruit and resume negotiations.
