The Histadrut is proud to announce the appointment of Attorney Orly Nahum as the new Chair of the Ramat Gan–Bnei Brak District, succeeding Avi Galili, who served with distinction for 27 years.
The Ramat Gan–Bnei Brak Division represents a diverse range of workers across multiple sectors, including government agencies, local authorities, shopping centers, retail chains, construction companies, insurance firms, and industrial plants. Its jurisdiction also covers major institutions such as Sheba-Tel Hashomer Medical Center, Maayanei Hayeshua Medical Center, Bar-Ilan University, and Shenkar College.
About Orly Nahum
Attorney Nahum holds academic qualifications in law, tax consulting, and accounting. She is married, a mother of two, and resides in Ramat Gan.
Nahum’s professional journey began at the Bnei Brak Workers’ Council, where she served as secretary to the council’s then-chairman, David Zchut, and later as treasurer. Following the 1994 restructuring of workers’ councils into regional divisions, she was appointed Treasurer and Human Resources Manager for the Dan North District and later continued in the Ramat Gan–Bnei Brak District. Over the years, she transitioned into union leadership roles, including serving as Secretary of the State Employees’ Union in the division.
Since 2011, Nahum has served as a practicing attorney and Coordinator of Professional Union Activities in the division. In 2022, she was appointed Deputy Chair, and in 2024, she assumed the role of Acting Chair before her election to the permanent position.

Commitment to Leadership and Equality
Reflecting on her appointment, Nahum stated:
“For me, success is the product of determination, diligence, and perseverance. These values have guided me throughout my career, including in boardrooms where I was often the only woman in a position of influence. As someone deeply committed to the Histadrut’s mission, I believe it is crucial to promote meaningful representation for women in leadership roles. I am grateful for the trust placed in me by Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David and Organization and Divisions Department Chairman Avi Yehezkel, and I am committed to advancing the welfare of workers with professionalism, dedication, and passion.”
