Jan 21, 2026

Gabi Asraf was re‑elected today (Tuesday) to another term as Chair of the Histadrut Industrial Workers’ Union during the Union’s 9th Conference, held at the Histadrut headquarters in Tel Aviv.
“I thank everyone for their trust. Industrial workers are a vital part of this home,” Asraf said following his re‑election.

About the Industrial Workers’ Union

The Industrial Workers’ Union represents employees across Israel’s core production sectors: metal, electricity, electronics, energy, printing, automotive, diamonds, and a wide range of manufacturing industries. These sectors form a central pillar of Israel’s economy, producing advanced technologies and an extensive array of products critical to industry and society.

The Union is committed to safeguarding workers’ rights, improving wages and working conditions, and strengthening workers’ status in their workplaces. Its division heads and regional Histadrut representatives negotiate both sector‑wide collective agreements and individual workplace accords. They work continuously with management to resolve labor disputes, maintain regular contact with workers, assist in establishing worker committees, and provide representation in both collective and individual matters.

Meeting Modern Challenges

In an era defined by rapid scientific and technological progress, the Industrial Workers’ Union plays an active, daily role in shaping Israel’s advanced industrial landscape. Alongside supporting growth sectors, the Union also works tirelessly to protect and preserve industries vulnerable to market pressures or geopolitical challenges, helping workers navigate times of uncertainty and transition.

To meet these challenges, the Union emphasizes professional expertise and preparedness—acquiring the knowledge and tools needed to respond swiftly and effectively to emerging issues.

Professional Development and Training

A central mission of the Industrial Workers’ Union is to advance the professional capabilities of its members. To that end, it established the Association for Professional and Social Advancement, which offers training programs, courses, workshops, seminars, and enrichment activities for workers and their families. These initiatives enhance professional growth, expand opportunities, and strengthen the resilience of Israel’s industrial workforce.
