Histadrut inclusive employment progam making a real difference

Incorporating people with disabilities in the labor market at the municipal level involves creating inclusive policies and programs that provide equal employment opportunities and support to individuals with disabilities. Through a regional municipal program in the southern city of Eilat, the Histadrut is advancing workplace inclusion.
The research-based program brings all national and local stakeholders to the table, utilizing the extensive experience of the labour committees and worker councils from the workplace level through the specialized service providers, incorporating national-level knowledge and municipal commitment to the people with disabilities living in Eilat.
The pilot’s success in Eilat has encouraged cities in the center of Israel, Rishon Letzion, Tel Aviv, and Ramat Gan, to all plan on implementing the Histadrut model. Beginning in February 2023 in Rishon Letzion.

In a presentation by Peter Lerner, Director General of the Histadrut’s international relations division, to the 12th International Conference of Access Israel on inclusive employment, Lerner shared the success of the Histadrut’s inclusive employment program in the southern town of Eilat. “Our vision is that due to this program in 10 years time, any person with a disability that wants to work will be able to”.
