First House of Representatives meeting convened
Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David spoke about the main moves on the agenda, including the signing of additional wage agreements
Today, the first meeting of the Histadrut House of Representatives was held in the new composition after the Histadrut elections. Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David wished success to the new representatives: “We are strong and will continue to work together to protect the workers.”
The chairman of the Histadrut spoke about the significant moves on the agenda, including the signing of additional wage agreements: “We continue to produce agreements and wage increases for employees constantly. We are currently working on an important agreement with Israel Railways. This week we put El Al back on the map. The Histadrut is everywhere. “
He added: “There are constantly talks at all levels with the Ministry of Finance about worker wage increases. There is a complicated legal situation because a transitional government can not sign anything. But I announce here that if we do not reach agreements through negotiations, we will have to break through to these agreements by force and take to the streets. In the next two to three months, I will decide where we are going with this issue. That is what I am currently facing as chairman of the Histadrut, and together with my team, we are trying to find solutions. “
“There are a lot of sectors that we are negotiating with, and we will continue looking for solutions for everyone,” Bar-David said.
“There are two main sectors: nursing, which we will do our utmost to reward you, as we have rewarded other health workers. And teaching assistants – we are constantly working and looking for solutions.
On September 1, they will receive a grant for work during the summer holidays. A grant that has never been received in the past, and there is a general reform that we are working on for the benefit of this sector. There are many more challenges. Even in the government employees sector, we need to make a change and improve the conditions there. The Histadrut is moving forward in all industries. “
The chairman of the Histadrut added: “Part of our deal with the cost of living is also what we do here, in terms of our clubs and what we give to members through ‘together for you’. For example, a 30% discount on vacations. We are currently building more products within the clubs. We will continue to invest in the “Friends” network that we put on the map, and this has been a dizzying success. “
Histadrut chairman Bar-David congratulated Shlomo Avitans’ election for another term as chairman of the Histadrut House of Representatives: “I hope we will enjoy your experience and knowledge of House of Representatives activities in the next five years.”
Bar-David also thanked the secretary of the Histadrut House of Representatives, Nahum Assad, “who coordinated the entire computerized election campaign. Although we took no small risk to go to computerized elections, we succeeded, and we are the first body in Israel to make computerized elections at this level in terms of size.”
