Bar David welcomes move towards ceasefire and hostage release
“Like many Israelis, I was deeply moved last night by the Prime Minister’s decision to agree to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.…”
Arnon Bar-David, Chairman of the Histadrut, issued a special statement following the announced ceasefire and anticipated hostage release:
“Like many Israelis, I was deeply moved last night by the Prime Minister’s decision to agree to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
Hours of tension and nerve-wracking anticipation are being felt by the citizens of Israel, and my heart, too, clings to the hope that we will finally succeed in bringing our brothers and sisters home. Their return will mark the starting point of the healing process that Israel so desperately needs.
When my team and I helped establish the Hostage Families Headquarters, we never imagined it would last this long. With tears of genuine emotion, I embrace the families and extend my gratitude to everyone who joined us along the way to ensure this issue remained at the forefront.
Now, we must set aside our differences and unite in the belief that we can bring everyone back home.
Over the past year, the Histadrut has upheld its fundamental commitment to economic responsibility and human compassion, standing by hostage families in their dire time of need, as expected from Israel’s largest and most impactful social movement.
Now is the time to steer Israel back on course. The Histadrut will continue to act with responsibility and dignity, providing unwavering support to the families until every last hostage is safely returned.”
