Histadrut statement on the tragic death of an infant in Hebron
The Histadrut expresses its deep sorrow over the tragic death of seven-month-old Sam Fahad Abu Haykal in the shooting incident in Hebron and wishes a full and speedy recovery to his injured parents.
The loss of a child’s life is a profound human tragedy. At a time marked by conflict, pain, and uncertainty, the sanctity of human life must remain a guiding principle, and public confidence in the institutions responsible for upholding the law must be preserved.
We note the announcement by the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division (MPCID) that an investigation has been opened into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Given the gravity of the outcome it is essential that the investigation be conducted thoroughly, professionally, independently, and transparently.
The Histadrut expects the investigation to be completed swiftly and its findings made public as soon as possible.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy. We hope that a full clarification of the circumstances will help prevent similar incidents in the future, hold those responsible accountable, and reaffirm the importance of protecting innocent lives.
