Arnon Bar-David: “The rift emerging from the Knesset is dismantling our life creation.”

The Chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar-David, sent a letter at noon (Thursday) to all members of the Histadrut in light of the socio-political crisis in the country and announced that he is working on several fronts to promote dialogue and negotiations that will enable the settlement of the conflict and division in the nation.

I am an optimistic, not a desperate person. Still, this time I’m worried,” wrote the chairman of the Histadrut, “the rift emerging from the Knesset is dismantling our life creation. The state is the home of all of us, is on the verge of division.” Bar-David called for “calming down the discourse and creating real dialogue” and noted that within this framework, he is working both with the President of the State, Yitzhak Herzog and in with the Minister of Justice Yariv Levin. “I am working and will work with all my might and the power of the Histadrut for real negotiations and mediation between the parties, I will not be dragged into a situation where I would endanger the unity that I have led in the house of men and women workers in Israel, and I will not enter into a political debate that divides the country.”, he explained. “I have always strived to resolve conflicts through dialogue,” he declared, adding, “I will use the strength of the Histadrut against any attempt to harm workers’ rights, and at the right time. I have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Israel is a state of law, and only the chairman of the Histadrut has the authority to shut down the economy.”
