Histadrut chairman: “If no steps are taken to eradicate violence against public servants – I will declare a labor dispute in the entire public sector.”
Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David said this following increasing violence against workers and public servants. Bar-David called on state authorities and law enforcement to act vigorously to eradicate the phenomenon: “If no active and effective steps are taken within ten days, every week I will put more and more sectors on solidarity strikes: medical staff, public sector workers, and public transportation drivers.”
Following the increase in cases of violence against public servants, Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David said today (Wednesday) that: “If in the next ten days no active and effective measures are taken by government ministries and relevant authorities to eradicate the phenomenon of violence against public servants – I will declare a general labor dispute in the public sector, and every week I will put more and more sectors into solidarity strikes. From medical staff and public sector workers to public transportation drivers. “
Histadrut chairman Bar-David added: “Violence against workers serving the public is a phenomenon that, unfortunately, is only growing. Workers are attacked and faced with the helplessness of state authorities and law enforcement. It is time to act vigorously to eradicate the phenomenon completely. We will not agree to get used to these cases and these reports. “
Meanwhile, Bar-David instructed to air the Histadrut’s information campaign on television again tonight: “Violence no longer works here.” The campaign has been promoted recently and aims to raise awareness of the phenomenon of violence against workers and public servants. The campaign involves real workers: nurses, a medical secretary, a bus driver, a social worker, a parking inspector, and national insurance workers – who wear protective vests while working with the caption “Bombardment readiness is routine here.”
