Following yesterday’s announcement by Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David to boycott leading companies raising product prices, today (Wednesday), the Histadrut published an instruction sheet for the public explaining which brands have become more expensive and a call to consume alternative products whose prices have remained unchanged.
The announcement is the continuation of the Histadrut’s struggle with the cost of living and was distributed to approximately 800,000 members of the Histadrut in emails and text messages. The move comes as part of a public campaign under the title “Stop being suckers. Buy smart and fight the cost of living”, which aims to make it clear to the public that everyone has the power to influence lowering the cost of living in the form of purchasing cheaper substitutes for products that have become more expensive.
Furthermore, in the coming days, the members of the Histadrut will go to the shopping centers throughout the country and to the supermarkets, where they will distribute informational materials to the general public – on how to reduce the cost of the shopping basket.
“The support I’ve received from so many Israeli citizens only strengthens me and the movement I am leading. The Histadrut will use all the means at its disposal to curb the cost of living and return prices to a reasonable level,” concluded the Histadrut chairman.
The Histadrut will continue and update regarding actions as part of the move to curb the cost of living in Israel.
