Arnon Bar-David to Smotrich: Use your weight and let us stop what’s happening today in the streets of Israel
Today (Thursday) at the joint press conference announcing a new framework agreement for the public sector, the Chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar-David, called on Betzalel Smotrich to be inspired by how Histadrut and the Ministry managed to bridge the differences and reach an agreement beneficial for all parties.
Arnon Bar-David said: “I call on you, Minister of Finance, I think that since we are sitting here together, despite being on different sides of the tracks for many years, around one table, signing an agreement, without spilling one another’s blood, without chest-beating, without one day of strike, in a positive atmosphere, out of the willingness to deal with the workers of Israel. I call on you in these challenging moments of the people of Israel to use all your weight in the Knesset with your friends and let us stop what’s happening today in the streets. What’s happening today in the streets and in the protests must stop. We must stop, we must talk, we must sit down in the same room, and we can reach resolvable solutions. Only goodwill is required to sit in the room as we sat, bringing a good result. We have one people with many tribes, but we are all one people, the Jewish people. I want all the tribes together like all the tribes sit together in the Histadrut in a coalition and know how to sit together and manage together. So I expect you, Mr. Minister of Finance, to use all of your weight to calm things down for Israel.”
